Ciela is a new women's vocal ensemble in Rockland County NY, northwest of New York City. CIELA is a small and unique vocal ensemble comprised of approximately 12-24 women. Although most singers in the group are from Rockland, we also draw talent from the surrounding area such as Bergen County, NJ and Westchester.

Each member of CIELA is carefully selected for inclusion in the ensemble based on her musicality, energy, vocal quality and versatility. The result is a lovely, exciting, and ethereal blend of voices.

CIELA's founder, Ronni Lederman of West Nyack, is an accomplished singer, vocal coach and performer. Ms. Lederman is a private voice teacher with a large roster of students. She has sung in 7 choirs and ensembles of various sizes and types. She has also performed as a soloist with Rockland Symphony Orchestra, Rockland Opera, Operesque Classical Concerts, New York Vocal Artists, various Opera Workshops, WestFair Singers and more.

This new venture embraces Ms. Lederman's passion for beautiful and varied women's music. Unlike the stereotypical choir, her vision for this group is to combine choral singing with other programming such as Trios, Quartets and Solos with all talent drawn from the group. Attractive apparel. choreography and innovation are incorporated into performances.

CIELA would like to explore unusual and varied women's music. CIELA has plans to perform an exciting mix of musical styles including Classical, Jazz, Swing, Folk, Broadway, Doo-Wop, Spirituals, Standards, Ethnic and New Age repertoire. Of particular interest is the music of contemporary, unknown, and female composers. The group also welcomes the works of composers from the Hudson Valley area, and other music not typically showcased. CIELA plans to perform in local venues throughout Rockland and vicinity.

So far Ciela has performed to a sold-out crowd at Nyack's Hudson House and was hired to perform at Haverstraw's new luxury housing complex called Harbors at Haverstraw. We look forward to many more performances.

Kimberly Salvatore is CIELA'S musical director and is the rehearsal accompanist and conductor of the group.
