Schedule Yourself

There is little in life that is more wasteful than wasting time itself. For time is a valuable, if not priceless commodity, to which every person is allotted a certain amount. It must be used wisely for once it's gone it can never be gotten back.

If you think that you have time to spare, or you have to kill time or fritter it away because you simply don't have anything else to fill it with, then you are wasting a most valuable resource. Life is a finite thing and while it may seem to be long and eventful when you're young, age soon creeps up on you and you will look back with chagrin at the amount of it that you foolishly wasted, or killed.

The best way to manage yourself is to schedule your activities to make the best use of your time. While that may seem like being too structured and restrictive, it actually is not. Because when you maximize your time, you find that you get more done in a day and you actually get to experience far less stress because you have things left over that you did not do that you now have to do in a hurry to get them finished by a certain time.

How Can You Manage Time?

People talk about "time management" but the truth is you can't manage time. Time simply can't be managed. It just is. But you can manage yourself!

The best way to do this is to write down, last thing at night, the tasks that you need to complete the following day. Don't give yourself too much to do as you'll overload yourself and end up getting less done! But when you make your "to do" list a reasonable one that you know you can achieve, then when you get up next morning, you will know exactly what you need to do and so you can set about getting those items crossed off the list.

It often happens that when you work in this way, all your "need to do" tasks get completed early and you are left with a nice chunk of spare time! But this is where the clever person makes huge strides in overcoming handicaps and making those huge improvements to their lives. Instead of frittering that spare time away by watching TV or reading a newspaper or magazine, put that time to better use to improve yourself.

If you don't know what to do with it, then think of something you would like to do or to be and then set about learning it! If you want to learn a second language, then enrol in an evening class to get started. If you want to improve your memory, then use that time to practice remembering lists of things and reciting them after. If you want to simply improve your way of life, then use some of that free time to be calm, still and meditate. It's all about using what you have to bring about success in your life.

There are many ways in which to better use the time you have, before it gets too late and you end up having lived a mediocre life just killing time when you look back and realize that you never did half the things you always wanted to do because there wasn't enough time!
